g | CROQUET “Vampire” PRACTICE “Vampire”: Very Accurate Machine for the Practical Improvement of Roqueting Efficiency. STarting Procedure to Roquet (Hit another Target Ball) Remember! All the elements required, to hit another ball, STart with ST. 1. STrategy in Play: is this the right ball to hit? – What happens if I miss? 2. STate of Mind – Focused – Visualize the Action and the Success of the hit. 3. STate of Body – Comfortable – but Controlled 4. STudy the Lawn – like a Golfer, when putting, and allow for possible curving. 5. STalk the STriker ball onto the Target ball. STop! Don’t walk backwards. Ever! 6. STance over the ball – eyes perpendicular to the rear of the STriker’s ball. 7. STraighten up the mallet with sight line(s) onto the Target ball. 8. STay clear of Hoops and the Peg – Crushing is a Fault – end of turn. 9. STandardise your Mallet grip. Find a grip that is comfortable. 10. STare at that molecule on the back of the ball you are going to hit. 11. STart your backwards swing firmly and fluidly. 12. STrike the ball firmly with your Mallet and follow through. 13. STrength of STrike to hit the ball and or to relocate the Target ball. 14. STrength of hands on Mallet constant. Don’t squeeze as you come through. 15. STraight follow through with the Mallet. (Except with a Stop Shot) 16. STeady follow through – don’t accelerate the Mallet (i.e. apply more force) 17. STill have your eyes where that molecule was. (Don’t lift head to STickybeak) 18. STudy the balls for wear. If chipped or out of round they will malfunction. 19. STruth! Can you think of the other two “STs” that give us a total of 20 STs? 20. Red is Very Important.
